Student Using Pay for Print

Overview

The excessive amount of wasteful printing in labs has required NKU to implement a controlled printing system.  In the last year millions of pages have been printed in IT labs alone.  Although there is no way to determine the number of unclaimed or accidental printing jobs, the recycle bins are continually being filled with extremely large amounts of papers from unclaimed printing jobs.

NKU is implementing the Pharos UniPrint Printing Solution and would like students, faculty, and staff to understand the following information:

  • The Controlled Printing Solution was approved by the Dean's Council and Board of Regents.

  • Printing Charges began Oct. 20th, 2004.

  • Full time students receive $12.00 in free prints, part time students receive $6.00 in free prints, and Winter term students receive $2.00 in free prints.

  • Pharos UniPrint System is installed in academic computer labs and classrooms.

Resources

  • Pay For Print: printing instructions

  • Account Balance - Check the balance of your accounts using the
    Account Balance
    application.

  • Printing Charges - The charge for printing is $.08 per black and white page.

  • Problems While Printing - The following course of action is available:
    • Please see the designated proctor for the lab you are in if it is within 4 hours of printing your job.
    • Please fill out an online Request For Appeal if more than 4 hours has elapsed from the time you printed your job.

  • Adding money to Account:
    • Students can add money to their NKU All-Card Declining Balance accounts for printing at two campus locations:  a Value Port is available in Steely Library, third floor, or students can visit the All Card office, 115 UC.
    • Using a credit card students may add money to their Pay for Print account on-line by going to www.dineoncampus.com. (Please note: The minimum balance that can be added to your account is $25.00)

  • Faculty Printing - Faculty accounts will be monitored, but will have a dedicated free printing allotment.

  • Proctors - All departments using the controlled printing system must designate a responsible person to be trained to become accountable for mediating operational issues with their labs (e.g. printer jams).  These individuals can reprint jobs if a problem occurs.
